A Multilevel Architecture for Autonomous UAVs

In this paper, a multilevel architecture able to interface an on-board computer with generic UAV flight controller and its radio receiver is proposed. The board exploits the same standard communication protocol of controllers can easily access additional data, such as: (i) inertial sensor measurements coming from multi-sensor board; (ii) global navigation satellite system (GNSS) coordinates; (iii) streaming video one or more cameras; (iv) operator commands remote control. specific operating scenarios, proposed platform act as “cyber pilot” which replaces role human operator, thus simplifying development complex tasks those based on vision artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms are typically employed in autonomous operations.
